DECORATE YOUR DRINKS TROLLEY WITH A FOLIAGE GARLAND
To celebrate the foliage garland as a timeless year round decor idea, I've got a pretend foliage garland tutorial for you to have a go at. It gives the illusion of being a foliage garland but it's actually lots of foliage bunches arranged alongside each other and it's great for decorating the drinks trolley or bar. If you use eucalyptus, bay or olive leaves they can start out fresh and gradually dry and fade over the weeks too.
To decorate your drinks trolley or bar with luscious foliage, that gives the effect of a trailing garland (but is in fact much simpler!), here's a quick little tutorial I've put together for you. The amount of foliage you’ll need depends on the space you’re decorating and the arrangement size you’d like to go for. To work out roughly how much foliage you’ll need, measure the length that you’re decorating and then make sure to use enough foliage to fill this measured space generously.
You will need:
foliage (I used English eucalyptus varieties),
twine,
and scissors.
STEP 1. Make your foliage into little bunches made up of 3 short stems per bunch. Tie each bunch securely with a piece of twine.
STEP 2. Repeat this with all of your foliage so you've got lots of little bunches. I used about 9 bunches but you could make more for a fuller garland effect.
STEP 3. With a new piece of twine, tie your first foliage bunch onto the bar cart at the highest point where you'd like your garland to start. I began at the top where the handle is. Leaves go at the top of the drinks cart and the cut stems point downwards.
STEP 4. With the second foliage bunch, place this so it's facing in the same direction as the first bunch and overlapping slightly. Tie the bunch securely in place onto the trolley. The garland will begin to build from the top of the trolley to the bottom.
STEP 5. Keep adding your bunches so the garland begins to grow down the drinks trolley. Each bunch will be pointing in the same direction (leaves going up, cut stems pointing down). Overlap the bunches as you go so there’s a seamless blend of leaves.
STEP 6. Place any spare or loose stems along the bottom shelf of the drinks trolley, there’s no need to tie these on as they’ll be lying on the lowest shelf.
