4 WAYS TO DECORATE FOR A MORE ECO FRIENDLY HEN PARTY

Have you been tasked with planning a hen party this year? And are you looking to decorate the accommodation you've booked without getting told off for using blue tack?

If you’d love to go for decorations that are off the beaten track, and capture the personality of your bride and her friendship group, then you can get creative with these fun ideas below. A handmade hen party is thoughtful and original. Making something that little bit different, compared to mass produced hen party decor, will help make the weekend even more memorable and special.

In this blog I’ve put together 4 ideas to help you decorate the space with a focus on being recyclable or reusable too. These hen party decor ideas avoid single use plastic and have a nostalgic homemade feel instead.

Before you get started, it can make life so much easier and simpler by choosing a colour palette and style. Then you can make quick decisions and not go down a decor rabbit hole that’s completely ‘off brand‘. Choosing a palette of 3 or 4 colours will add a really strong look across the hen party and you can add a theme too, like 70s disco or 90s beach party.

1. THE BAR.

Designate an area at the accommodation to become the bar. If there's an island in the kitchen then great, or if you happen to have a bar trolley at home then bring that along. Or choose a space on the kitchen worktop that can be seen from across the room, is easy to get to and on a surface where you’re able to wipe up any spills.

Get all the drinks lined up, with mixers and a bucket or pretty bowl for ice. And place the glasses out grouped together. It’s amazing the effect that a few of the same glasses lined up can make. If one of the group could bring a neon sign from home, that would make all the difference!

Decorate with a few sprigs of eucalyptus and olive leaf foliage so it's got the feel of a beach bar on the riviera. I’ve made a simple bar decorating tutorial with foliage here on Instagram.

2. THE BACKDROP.

Create a photo backdrop to capture moments in front of on camera. There’s always a time for selfies at a hen party and having a pretty setting will encourage even more photos to be taken. You could use ribbon or paper streamers to do this. Or cut out paper hearts or flowers and string them up together. For more ideas I've gathered together Pins on this Pinterest board to help with decor and backdrops. There are so many ideas to choose from to match your hen party look: cut out paper daisies, go spiralled with your paper streamers or hang up colourful cheesecloth fabric, that can be re-purposed as table runners for the wedding or dinner parties.

3. THE BUNTING.

This easy to assemble bunting banner can be printed out and hole punched to string up and decorate your accommodation. You can print these onto coloured card or add a splash of paint to match your other decorations. There’s a birthday bunting in the printable too.

4. THE DISCO.

Use disco glitter balls to bring the party to the accommodation. You could use little mini ones that are actually Christmas baubles and give these out to the hens as a memory at the end of the weekend. Then when your friends decorate their Christmas tree each year, they'll remember how much fun they had at the thoughtful hen party you planned. Glitter balls add impact even if they’re little ones, and instantly lift the room with moving light.

Hope you have so much fun decorating your hen party space! I’m sure it’s going to look fabulous.
